I recently purchased a HP Photosmart printer that operates from the USB port. My programs were formally printed thru the LPT1 port. How do you change the settings to allow these programs to print on the new printer?

I would ask in an OS forum or maybe a software forum. You could use a usb to parallel adapter or get a different printer.

The answer is "42"

I have a similar problem - USB HP PHotsomart that is USB only - my Pagis software with my scanner can only print to LPT1. You may need to upgrade to newer software that can deal with USB connected printers.

Might be more of a work around, but try this:

1.Enable printer sharing on the usb printer.
2.net use lpt1 \\computername\sharename /persistent:yes

Now, try to use the program to print using the lpt1.

Hope this works!
