Finding IP address of S8500 on a G650 1

Hello,

I have a g650 with an s8500 that was sitting in storage. I just racked this and wanted to get it going for our office again. I would like to configure it just as it was and not have to start from 192.11.13.6, etc..

I installed the USB modem and can dial into this and connect with my old remote logins. However, I cannot connect to the S8500 server, nor can I recall the IP address to ASA into? Is there a way I can find out what this s8500 IP address is?

set your computer/laptop ethernet port to 192.11.13.5/255.255.255.252
plug into the services port using a crossover cable to you PC
http to 192.11.13.6
log in and look in the maint screens for the info

OK, Thanks.. But I tried this and can't get the server at 192.11.13.6. This used to be on our old network. Would'nt that require the 192.11.13.6 to change?

No. Plug your PC, with an ethernet crossover cable into "eth0", this is the "Service Port", it is always 192.11.13.6/31, you set your PC to 192.11.13.5, and connect to it.

Like Mitch says use eth0

You only change the eth1 when you install CM on the server

OK, Thanks.. I have a port labled "service", and a port labled, "Network", on the Service interface card. The Media Server card has a port called, "service". I have a crossover cable and it said "connect 100" when I plugged it in to the service port on the Service interface card, and I believe it said it as I tried the other ports as well.

However, I could not connect to anything when I browsed to 192.11.13.6, or 192.11.13.6/31. I set my laptop IP to 192.11.13.5 255.255.255.252..

I did not see anything marked eth0. Am I missing something?

It is NOT on any card, it is on the BACK of the actual S8500. You are trying to connect to the "SAMP" card. try the ports on the actual S8500.

On the back of the S8400(this is a 8400, not 8500..sorry)is the media server adaper. It has the USB on top, then "eth A, eth B, Eth C, & Eth D". I tried to connect to all ports unsuccessfully. I have a network cable running from Eth A to the IPSI connector in slot 1 of the cabinet. I moved this when I tried eth A.

Any other suggestions? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Is eth0 on the media server adapter? My adapter is labled eth A, eth B, and so on. Is ethA the same as eth0?

the S8400 and S8500 are very different.

The service port is on the FRONT of the S8400 processor card... try that one. The one on the front of the TN8412 is the service port for the SIPI card, don't use that one.
