The above is exactly what I want to do.

If the part number exists, I want it to pull up the record (I am successfully using an unbound text box for this), but if the part number does not exist, I want it to go to a New Record, and it just refuses to do that.

Any ideas?

How are you trying to accomplish going to a new record, cabbey?

I have attempted to use the Not In List function and the DoCmd.GoToRecord....

If you're using an unbound textbox, how do use the Not In List function? To the best of my knowledge, only comboboes have this property.

My bad, it is an unbound combo box, and no, then entire form is not unbound. But I did figure out a way to get this to work. I have created a pre-form that is nothing but the combobox, the not in list function works fine from here and opens the original form either in add or edit mode, depending on whether or not the item is in list.
