Find last good price

I am currently writting a query which links a stocks and shares purchasing table with a table containing dates and prices relating to those shares.

I have linked the two tables correctly and if the share price date matchs a date in the pricing table it will preview, however, If I don't have a price on a particular day I want the query to pick the previous date, which could be the day befores or even a week or more.

Any ideas?

Max(<YourDateField)
