Hey there all... It's been a while.
Today's question is... how can I find Files of a given type?
For example.. lets say I want to search the n/w for mpeg files... I want to be able to search the file header or something to tell me if a file is indeed an mpeg. Lookng at the file extension is not an option as it may have been changed.

Ideas would be much apreciated.

Thanks in advance
Jas

Thanks for that but I don't want to have to rely on the file extension.

That is to say I want to open the file as Binary and look for a header type structure that is specific for mpegs.

I guess what I am asking is what is the file format for mpg, avi, mp3 etc

Go to and type "mpeg" in the search box. This is the fast-track to the mpeg file format.
