We just installed Backup Exec 9.1 on our server. Whenever the backup runs we get a directory is invalid error on the same directory. If that directory is unselected the next directory is chosen to be invalid. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Our system setup: "NETSERVER" (Windows 2000 Server) has Backup Exec installed as well as the tape drive. "SERVER" (Windows 2003 Server) has the remote agent and has all the data.

Thanks

When you go into back selection look at the backup in "TEXT" and see if it is somehow still embedded in the job.

The file and directory are still there, and haven't been removed. We still want to back them up but Backup Exec says they are missing.

I think I have had the same problem, if I understand correctly. At least the same symptoms!! "The directory is invalid" etc.

My solution was to edit the selection list for the backup job and uncheck the folder containing the offending sub folders, then recheck the parent folder to select all the sub folders contained in the parent folder, and modify as necessary.

This seemed to rebuild the selection list for the backup job and the problem is now solved on my system.

I hope that is of some use.

Simon
