Urgent Help required please

Im using Project 2002, i have a summary task with 18 different milestones (0 duration)as subtasks.

Sounds easy but how do I filter out 1 specific milestone and the summary task????????????

I can filter out the summary but it shows all the other milestones which i dont want, or i can filterout the milestone on its own, but i want the summary task and one of the milestones

An ideasd folks as my brain is hurting off trying different filter options.

All help very much appreciated

I'm sure you've already thought of these:

Instead of a filter, use AutoFilter:
1. Choose any field (say Flag17). Set it to "Yes" for the milestone you want to appear.
2. Turn on AutoFilter (the funnel thingy)
3. Click on the little triangle at the top of Flag17 and choose "yes".

You'll see the milestone and the summary task it is part of.

If you want to use a filter then

1. Choose any field (say Flag17). Set it to "Yes" for the milestone you want to appear.
2. Project | Filtered For | More Filters ...
3. Click on any filter and click on "Copy"
4. Give it a name you can remember.
5. Click on the field name column and select Flag17; set the test to "equals" and set the value to "yes".
6. Make sure the "Show related summary rows" check box has a checkmark.

Thanks PDQBach

Yes thought of this technique but may have to use anyway, the only issue i have is that i have 6000 summary tasks with 18 milestones in each so could be quite long going through each milestone and marking off a number to filter on

But may do, thanks again mate, much appreciated!!!1

6000 summary tasks!
18 milestones in each!

Is there a text string in the name for the milestone tasks that is unique so that you could identify those tasks with a custom autofilter using the "contains" condition?

Given that you have 18 milestones which (from what I infer) are similar for each summary task, instead of using the Flag17 field, perhaps the Number17 field would be better. That way you could put (in the Number17 field) 1 in the first milestone under each summary task, 2 in the second milestone under each summary task ... and so on. I know it's a bit of work up front (and some additional work later on to maintain it) but I've used stuff like that on a variety of projects and have found it to be a _generally_ painless (or, perhaps, "less painful") approach.

Cheers, i have tried this and i think this is the best solution, I lied earlier in my error, i have 350 summary rows and 18 milestones in each making about 6000 rows altogether

I set a number column and labelled each milestone 1 to 18 and then tried to either use the auto filter the information out and ill also try the Filter option although again the filter gives all other milestones in the 18 if i want the summary as well, if i remove the summary then it only gives me the specific milestones, suppose the best idea wil be to use the auto filter which gives me the milestone and the summary

Your help has been very much appreciated,,Thanks again
