hi,

in sql profiler, under File|Properties|Filters, you can set it to filter the output by either Like <argument> or Not Like <argument>. all i want it to do is to ignore any event where TextData is blank. i've tried "Not Like %%", "Not Like % %", and "Not Like ''". any other ideas?

thanks in advance,
rs

That's a shortcoming of trace that I haven't found a way to overcome. Trace filters cannot be NULL or Empty String. You want to eliminate NULL but there is no trace filter for that. If someone else has a solution, I'd love to hear it. Let's hope the next version of SQL Server addresses the issue. If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874.

hi,

i think i've got it.

"Like %" seems to eliminate all those nasty nulls.

thanks,
rs

ugh-

except for that it seems to disregard all of the "Not Like" filters in that case...

still trying...
