Hi,
I have a Samba server under Suse Linux 9.2, clients have a z: drive connected at logon for theri documents and My Documents s pointing to z: on all machines. I have this situation:
Yesterday one user worked fine on several files, then the synchronization showed and error, but still the machine shut down. today the same user logged on and could not see the files he created yesterday. So, upon request we tried to find them on the server but they were not found. We unplugged the network cable so that the user had to log on manually and voila, all files were locally stored. the big problem arised when we reconnected the network cable. Not all files were copied to an alternative folder outside my documents, and those that were not, KAPUT! after synchronizing again (sych db was currupted according to MS) lost them all. Now they are not in the local machine nor in the file sever. How can we prevent the synch db to get corrupted? how can we configure synch options to upload all files it finds locally regardless of their presence in the synch db?
Thanks a lot, this is a recurring issue and we are crearly lost.
