Files not showing in restore screen, Arcserve 7

I have Arcserve 7 for netware (4.2) and I am a problem where a job backs up and is reported to be successful. However, when I go to restore from the tape, every session on every tape I have no longer shows the files. Restoring using tree view shows no tapes in the version required screen.

I have tried merging, reducing the prune and purge of the database to only 3 weeks and have even looked at many of the options for similar problems on a AS6.x, none of which seem appropriate to version 7.

It used to work fine, but stopped recently. I have done nothing to the server in that time.

I, of course, suspect a database related problem, but nothing I try (with the very limited options available in 7) seems to work.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You could try this if you suspect the database:

1. Do an ASTOP on your server.

2. When this has completed, go into the Arcserve.7 directory on your workstation. Delete the contents of the database directory, or back them up to another directory if you wish.

3. Copy the contents of EmptyDB into Database.

4. Do an ASTART on your server

5. Perform a tape merge using a successful backup tape.

If this fails, you have an issue with Btrieve and may have to perform tweaks as per TIDs on the Novell website. "My mamma used to say that life is like a box of chocolates .... you never know what you're gonna get!"
 
I've grown wary of their posted patches after I applied QO00946 (3 patches back) and could no longer drill down to a specific file for a restore (as if I had turned off Detail - which I hadn't). Needless to say, the patch came off because an accurate restore is more important to me than the ability to modify a job. (Should I really be forced to choose?). Meanwhile, still no response from CA to my requests for support. I've e-mailed them the items they asked for on the phone and sent several follow-up reminders, and they just don't bother to reply back.
