Hi All,

Stupid question..........still needs to be asked.

Where does Outlook store it's messages? I know of PST and PAB files, but I thought they were more for archiving? I'm sure it's in another file but I don't know where to find it. I think I know where it is and if that's true this person has lost their mail messages. I would like someone to confirm.

Appreciated.

As mentioned in your other post, for standalone installations, everything is stored in a .pst file.

They are definitely not stored in a PST file. That is for archiving only, and this file is only created if arcvhing is set to automatically perform, which was not happening in this case.

I have look at at least 5 other computers and none of them have PST files, yet they alluse Outlook. There has to be something else.

I appreciate you trying to help though.

Are you using an Exchange server? If so they're probably stored on there.

Cheers.

What OS, What Outlook, What Exchange (if any) ? ...

As you apparently found in thread68-879329, Outlook.pst is in a hidden folder and that is where the mail is stored. When using Windows search, be sure to select the option to seach hidden & system files. You can also find this information by right-clicking on Outlook Today, Properties, Advanced button. The Filename field contains the full path and filename of the mail store.
