Hey,

I'm currently checking on something I would like to add to my MS-Access 2000 database.

"It should be able to transfer files via modem between 2 machines";
=> I don't think I can use FTP for this, as the modems are just dialing to eachother by number, not using an IP-address or something.

I already checked on the "autodial" feature within Access, and I can make my modem dial the number. But once the connection is set-up, I'm stuck !!!

I've seen a lot of programmes doing this already since the DOS-days, should it can't be that difficult...

Is there anybody out there who can help me solve my issue ?

Regards,

I do that using LapLink Professional on a monthly basis.
It can be setup for automatic, but I always do it manually as I am updating a database only once a month.

I transfer data via modem from my location to another location whose computer is always on and has the Laplink program always running in the taskbar.

Works just swell as I can actually transfer data up and down. I can even reboot the machine remotely, if the database becomes stuck, or print jobs overflow.

The only downside is that both workstations needed the same operating system, or the security settings didn't work. Also sometimes, the workstation became unbootable by remote and I'd have to talk someone through it, or go down and do it myself.

Hope that helps.
