I am new to QuarkXpress and asm concerned about file size. It appears that the document holds all graphics in the file even though they are erased. Is there any way o compress the file and remove all references to graphics that have ben deleted?
Quark as many other applications creates an 'append' file. Basically the append file remembers every move you make.
If you re-save the file with a new name, this creates a NEW append file also thus reducing the append file size.
I regularly do a "save as" and overwrite my file in several programs - Quark, InDesign, Pagemaker. For some reason, just a "save" seems to leave ghosts but the "save as" flushes them out, the file size reduces (sometimes quite considerably) and often everything speeds up a bit.
