Hi, i have serious problems with shared folders.
I have two separate domains they have trust relationship both ways. The domains are Windows 2003 standard edition.
For the trouble let’s say:
In Domain A there are a few file servers with windows 2003, this have shared folders with the respective user permission from both domain configured.
Lets say that the server “image” is a member of domain A, that means its DNS is “image.A” and lets say its IP is 10.1.1.1. I have a folder shared in this server with access for user from the Domain B (Domain B is a User DC Only).
Now the problem begin when a user from domain B try to access the shared folder on the server “image” from the domain A. if the user try to access the server with its DNS
(that would be \\image.A ) the servers ask for a user an a password but this have already be configured on the folder permission. And if the users try to access the server through the IP address (that would be \\10.1.1.1) the folder is accessed at once and in this way the user permission on the shared folder works.
So my problem is why I can’t access the shared folder through its DNS.
Note: I can ping the “image.A” fine from both domains and the domain A and the domain B and from any PC so i believe DNS are working fine.
If someone can help I would really appreciate, I’m about to go mad.
Thanks
