I have a network of Approx 7 computers (all but 1 run win 98). All of the computers are plugged into a hub (there are no DHCP servers, DNS servers, etc...).

The computers are all part of the same work group and assign themselves dummy IPs inorder to share files (169.254.x.x ... this is a function of windows).

One computer in particular looses the ability to share files after being restarted or standing for a few hours (restarting the comp doesn't fix the problem).

There are currently two NICs in the computer. One works and the other doesn't because I could not find drivers for it... (it is left as an unidentified device).

I really need to get this problem solved as the network is being used in an office and I am not available to go in every day and temporarily fix the problem.

If anyone has any suggestions, please help ..

Thanks

Well...personally I would start by uninstalling Microsoft Services for Networking then Remove the second NIC and reinstall Network Services. -Does that help ya?

I was going to remove the second nic incase that was causing a problem.... I have already made changes to the TCP/IP settings so the network services would have to be rebuilt ... and that didn't help....

I will try it again and let you know if it works...

Any other suggestions are welcome
