Hi!
We are planning to replace our OS/2 File Servers, and move to Linux.
The workstations are Win9x (more than 95%) and a few Win2K Professional.
Since we have to create a new domain and new users...

1) Can we use Linux to make a Domain structure with SAMBA, and assign different users to the same share ? Or do i have to install a Windows NT or Windows 2000 Server ?
2) Does SAMBA do the allocated space check ? Or do i have create a file system with a fixed size with the posibility to expand it ?

Thanks for your help !

The best would be to do a bit of reading, there is no short and sweet answer to your question. The link below would be a good starting point:

Good luck

Yes, this can easily be done using Samba and quota's. You can set up Samba to mimic a Windows PDC. To assign different users to the same share, just throw them in different groups and assign a group to the share. Linux also allows you to set quota's on a per-user and/or per-group basis.
