I am getting this message.
What can I do to correct it?

Thanks,

Leo ;-)

Please post the version and edition of your software.

There are several options, one is to check that the Service is running using either the Crystal Enterprise server tool Crystal Configuration Monitor, or the Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services and check whether the server is running.

You should also explain where and when you are getting this error.

Here's a listing for that error from the BO knowledgebase, not the different software versions, check what's appropriate.

If you want tailored assistance, please post technical information.

I am sorry, but I am really frustrated.
The Software is Crystal Enterprise 8.0

I have checked in the CCM and all services are running, BUT, in the browser window under Crystal Enterprise (logged in as Administrator), the INPUT and the OUTPUT are not running.

I have enabled them, and tried starting them, but like I said that is what's going on.

I am getting this error when I click on "GO" to run a report.

BTW, I didn't see the listing; where is it?

Thanks,

Leo ;-)

Do you have plenty of space on the server for the FRS?

Have you checked the Event Log for error messages?

I assume that "in the browser window under Crystal Enterprise (logged in as Administrator), the INPUT and the OUTPUT are not running" means using the CMC?

I haven't seen these differ, that is a bit nerve wracking.

When did you last restart the server?

Was it working before and recently stopped?

There is plenty of space on the server.
I'll check the even log right now.
That is correct; the INPUT and OUTPUT are not running in the browser window. However, in the CMC, they show as running.

I have restarted the server several times.

It was running for 3 years.
But, the network people wanted me to take my name of off the services. The Crystal Sevices were logging in as my network ID. When I took my name off and set it to Local System, I started getting a "Communication Error"

I finally broke down and removed all of the CMC elements and readded them.

Thus, this is my new error message.

Thanks,

Leo ;-)

Yeah, I had posted the link it quickly to get you going since you’d done little more than vent in your first post (understandable), but once you were forthcoming with a few details I posted again.

The FRS can be a bit persnickety, but it’s usually based on disk space or a good olde fashioned reboot will clear its mind.

Check the Event Log, it should give you a better understanding of the error, and check other errors, not just Crystal as it may be related to disk IO, networking, etc.

Thanks; I really do appreciate your help and understanding.

Hi,
The key may be the channge in the account..are the INPUT and OUTPUT file locations on the same box as the services?

Also be sure they are enabled and not just started.

The CMC IS a browser, did you mean CCM?

If the account has changed, then the services may not work because they expect the original log in.

"I finally broke down and removed all of the CMC elements and readded them."

CMC elements means the servers?

What account are you logging in with now?

I would set up the CE Services to use the admin account, at any rate, the account may not have rights to the FRS directories.

You were right; I had to delete the Input and Output servers from both the CCM and the browser.

All is well now.

Thank you soooo muck -K

Thanks,

Leo ;-)
