File properties and "Opens with"

I made a mistake when I tried to make my "hosts" file open with "NotePad." Instead of just selecting "NotePad" to open my "hosts" file, which is a short cut on my desktop, I also "Checked" the "Always use this programs to open these files." This, needless to say changed all of my file properties on my desktop and into my startup as well as my programs folders and files to NotePad text files. What do I need to do to get them back to their original state?

You need to go into your folder options, to the file types tab, find lnk files in that list, hit advanced, and remove the open action associated with notepad. You can actually delete the lnk file type after that, as it's usually not there anyway. ________
