I have a PC which will not allow me to create a new folder in the root of the C drive. My main reason for wanting to do this is to run a batch program to update anti-virus s/w - this copies a temporary file to the root. All other PCs allow this no problem. The PC is a PIII 500, 64 MB RAM, Win98SE.

Please help

What error message does it give and what folder name are you trying to create?

When trying to create any folder within the root, nothing happens at all. If I try to copy a file for example into the root, I get "Cannot copy <filename>. The directory or file cannot be copied."
