Just wondering, is there a place in AIX where the network information is stored? If its a file, it would be handy for a alt_disk install procedure.

network information?!? Do you mean DNS, Gateway, IP... ?

For dns

/etc/resolv.conf

For protocols to be enabled by inetd

/etc/inetd.conf

For local names resolution

/etc/hosts

I'm not sure where IP and gateway storage!?!

Khalid

It's all in the ODM, you can use the prtconf command to display your current config or get hold of a copy of cfg2html.

Do the alt_disk from a mksysb and all config would be preserved.

thanks for the replies.

Mrn, well the mksysb I have does not have any network info. However, I like the prtconf idea. Thats probally the best way to go.
