I have a problem where any Microsoft Office documents or programs have the windows flag as the icon. Some Word documents are showing as excel documents however when user double clicks on the icon it takes her into the correct program (eg microsoft word).

Client OS: Windows 2000
Office: Microsoft Office 2000

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

NW

It sounds as if though your icon cache file may be corrupted. Do a search for "shelliconcache" without the quotes, and delete it. (It is most likely in your WinNT folder)

This file will be rebuilt after a re-boot, and it should fix your icon association problem.

Good luck, and Happy Computing

Thanks for the info but it did not solve the problem. If you or anyone else has any other suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have had similar problems with this issue myself and on approximatley 1/2 of the times, the iconcache was corrupt and rebooting works, but on the other half, i've had to use the office2000 disk to repair. Reinstalling each app will not loose or harm any doc's that the user currently has.

Good Luck and hope this helps
