Hi,

I am currently using A2k and have split db's frequently. It has been some time since I used 97. Someone I was talking to who is more knowledgeable than I indicated you can't split a db disigned in 97 or 2003. I could have sworn that I had done it in 97, but now am not so sure. Also, I don't have 2003, but I would think you should be able.

Can anyone confirm the splitting of A97 & A2003!

Thank you.

Maurie

How are ya mph1 . . . . .

Its been so long, I don't remember. But for your purpose, splitting a 97 DB is academic to the cause. Mainly beacuse, [purplr]now you'll have two DB's to convert instead of one![/purple]

[blue]Better to convert to your latest version and then split![/blue] Its simply less work . . . . .

Hi AceMan1,

I agree with what you are saying. It is not something that I personally want to do. However, the subject came up in conversation. There are still many who are using 97 and those that only have 2003. For those that only have 97 and for whatever reason (most likely financial)won't/can't upgrade, can 97 be split??

Yes, an Access97 db can be split. The Database Splitter feature was introduced in Access 95, and has been included in every version since.

Thanks for the answer. You helped restore my confidence in what I thought was true. Unfortunately, I had no way of proving.

In thinking more about this, I do remember doing the splitting.

Again, thanks!!
