I have been researching how to route faxes using IPO 4. The help files have directed me to change the settings inside auto attendant, but I don't see any options for routing the faxes. Any clues?

In the Auto Attendant under TOUCHTONES Tab, add a new TouchTone F

Just a capital F.

This will route a fax tone.

Route this captial F to any fax machine or fax server with a transfer action.

Under auto attendant, there is no touchtones tab...All I see is "Auto Attendant" and "Actions"...the only option I see for Fax is a Blind Transfer to an extension, which doesn't do me any good.

Do I need to set up our fax machine or fax server as a user, then transfer the fax to that user?

All that is listed for Menu Options is a Shortcode that I am unable to alter. There is nothing about touch tones.

What version of VMPro are you using? What version of IPO?

There should be a menu action that your AA is based off of to make touchtone choices 1,2,3,4. Under the menu action there should be a tab for touch tones.

Versions

VMLite: 2.1
IPO: 4.0(5)

On the Actions tab, there are Keys listed 0-9, *, #, and Fax. When I go to change the action setting for Fax, the only option available is Blind Transfer with the possible destinations being all Users and extensions.

Could we be lacking those features because we're running VMLite instead of Pro?

I think you have to have pro for this to work. Auto Attendant is not supported on VMlite.

The AutoAttendant bits inside IP Office Manager are for Embedded Voicemail, it would be nice if they were greyed out when any other type of voicemail was selected within the confiuration.

As said VMLite doesn't support any kind of auto attendant.

For fax routing you need VMPro.

I thought 4.0 VM Lite had auto attendants. i have not looked it up but i thought i heard that.

i just looked in the documentation and there was nothing about an auto attendant in VMLite, just Users and Hunt Groups.

What type of lines do you have coming into your IPO from the telephone company?

...and someone should have corrected me. If you have IP Office 4.0, then Embedded Voicemail does support Fax routing as an action.

It seems that I've confused everyone. LOL. Here is a screenshot that includes both tabs on the auto attendant included with our IPO.

I apologize for the size of the image, but I wanted to fit both tabs in one image.

Thanks a lot guys...I love this forum. LOL.

You need an Avaya Embedded Voicemail card in your IP Office control unit (which means your control unit has to be either a Small Office Edition, IP406 V2 or IP500).

You then need to setup an auto attendant where the Fax action is a blind transfer to whichever extension is attached to your fax machine.

And then you need to create an Incoming Call Route that route the appropriate calls to that auto attendant.

[Of course you could just route calls using an Incoming Call Route direct to the fax extension without using any auto attendant if your fax calls arrive on a specific DDI or line]

in simplier terms codermonkey you can't use that autoattendant screen in manager for vm lite. sorry.
