Each time I start up my computer I get a dialog box that says FATAL ERROR, can not communicate with machnm1.exe.

I hit OK and have no subsequent problems running any programs.

Can someone please advise what can be happening here? I'm sure its not a good thing.

Thanks

Joe

(ps. I am not a "technical user" I need to figure out how to change that too. I only have experience with Windows as a PC user for less than one year.)

I tried your suggestion but it appears that the "patch" is intended only for for "Simsol" software. There was no explanations, etc of what machnm1.exe is and how it is corrupted or why this particular patch is intended only for their stuff. I didn't want to download something that could possibly make matters worse.

Any other suggestions out there????

Since it isn't hurting anything by being unused, why not try to find what it is associated with by running regedit and look for it. Also look in win.ini or system.ini. Or try the [F8] driver loader single step to see if you can find where it is coming in.
I would suspect that you had a corrupted install of something that left a dangling program and the solution is the removal of the partial install. Ed Fair
