FAT32-NTFS problem

Okay... Several issues here....

XP hard drive is 40 gig - partitioned into two 20 gig drives.
Was originally FAT32
Converted to NTFS

Problems:
1. Cannot copy a 4 gig file onto the hard drive. We get access denied.
2. Cannot install XP Service Pack 2

If we need to do an original format to NTFS can we ghost the system,
Reformat the drive, then copy the image back?

Is there an easier solution?
