Hi Everyone

I've generated (or regenerated) an FAQ to help people write questions.

I've referenced it in my signature (below)

Could I ask all forum members to read and comment on this, as I'm sure it needs some polishing. If you think it would be useful to some of our newer members, you could be kind enough to point them to it as well

Look forward to hearing your responses/suggestions Let me know if this helps

Looks OK to me, although it may be worth adding the point(s) raised within the last few days that the forum is not here to do people's homework assignments or similar.

Looks Good! I have two suggestions however. First it may be good to include a paragraph about being respectful to all in your questions and responses. Second the FAQ doesn't seem to have an ending. I would add a closing sentence or two to quickly sum up what you have said so well.

I also agree with strongm's suggestion. Thanks and Good Luck!

johnwm,

I agree with both of the above post. That is a very good faq and you have a lot of good points for all to consider. I really can't see too much wrong but like zemp said there needs to be an ending. Why don't you end it with something about the forums being for respectable programs and that we're not here to belittle each other but to help each other out with problems. Thanks for your help in keeping the forums both respectable and technical:)!! ----------------

TO Johnwm,

I looks good to me and it delivers important guide lines for us newbies.

I think I have posted this in another thread, but I feel like. I need to say it again.

KUDO's to all of you that seem to be able and willing, to help those of us, that all too often seem to be in need.

It's a good FAQ, if the poster reads it....

One thing that would be useful, is if when a person asks a question and clicks the submit button, that the subject line of the question could be automatically used as a search though all of the FAQ's and old threads. If a match over a certain percentage was generated, that the person asking the question could be redirected to the FAQ/thread ( or given a list of them ), before the actual question would be posted to the board.

Of course, that would mean a rewrite of how Tek-Tips works, but I think it would be nice.

Looks good to me. A couple things needed to be added:

When you post a question and get reponse, please let the one who helps you out know that if his/her suggestions work or not. If you get your problem solved, give the solutions provider a start, that is one way to say "thank you".

It would be nice if members of tek-tips forum can edit or delete their posts. This way they can eliminate their duplicated posts or correct their careless mistakes in their posts.

Thanks.
