Failed to lock file...after 5 minutes

I am using webmin to access my server at home. I am using webalizer for web stats.

I am trying to schedule a cron job to run webalizer once a day. Each time I set it up in the webmin webalizer or cron module in webmin I get this error:

Failed to save log file: Failed to lock file /var/spool/cron/root after 5 minutes

I checked to make sure that I have sufficient privileges to modify or run cron jobs and I do.

Any ideas?

Delete /var/spool/cron/root.lock

Something must have locked it and not released it.
