Failed to Backup Active Directory Service

Hi all!

I am getting an error message when running my backups.
We use Brightsore ArcServe 9 for our backups and are backing up clients which have the Active Directory implemented. I've noticed recently that
I'm getting an error when backing up one of my Domain
Controller's in particular. The error states, "AW0254
Failed to Backup Active Directory Service RC= -939523591"

Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting the same error message in the brightstor logs when backing up an AD controller.

Currently using Brightstor r11.1

Did you find a soloution?

Use the Client Agent to backup the systems.

Hi,

I have the same problem with backup of AD controller on Windows 2003 server, CA Brightstor client agent r.11 installed. I'm getting an error "AW0254
Failed to Backup Active Directory Service RC= -939523591" same as Arcvic.

Any ideas?

Is it on WIndows 2003 with SP1 ,IF Yes then apply these patches,
1)

If in case of version 9.0 please apply this patch on the
client agent and the base product :

try this and see how it goes!!

Hi,

Yes it is on Windows 2003, SP1 but i have release 11.0 installed and these patches are for the r11.1 and this fix requires the 11.1 version.

Can`t be the problem in same rights? I`m not sure if the problem is in the Brightstor..

David - most the times I have seen these sort of issues, a reboot of the server fixes the error. Nothing specifically to do with ARCserve AFAIK, just that AD is in a state where it won't allow itself to be backed up.

Can you run a backup of the System STATE using NTBACKUP on server where you experience this problem?

If the backup fails... time to call MS..

If you are using version11.0 then apply the following patch
to upgrade it to 11.1
