I have recently performed a migration from Exch 5.5 to Exch 2003. Exch 5.5 is still installed, but has been disabled in an attempt to make sure 2003 is running properly. While I believe the migration has nothing to do with the issues at hand, I provide that as history.
The Exchange 2003 is a new server with Windows 2000 Advanced Server installed.
We seem to get recurring, not consistent, errors. For example:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
user@clientdomain.com on 2/2/2005 12:55 PM
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<twexch.mydomain.com #5.5.0 smtp;553 This server does not accept mail for that address (#5.7.1)>
Another:
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
Client Name on 2/2/2005 12:28 PM
You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator.
<twexch.mydomain.com #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for client@clientdomain.com>
At times these emails will send - other times they will not. This simply has me confused.
Under Relay Restrictions, I have setup IP Address/Subnet with Access of Granted. Everyone that is using email will be within these parameters.
Please let me know if more informatoin is needed. I will provide what I can to get this resolved.
Thanks,
Dave
