We have a T1 connection to the internet. We have remote users connected in from the outside, we are able to ping remote site routers, but we are not able to access any web sites.

We have 2 internal DNS servers. If I try an external DNS address, I can get to the internet, but not using the internal DNS servers. I pass the simple DNS test, but fail the recursive query test.

Everything looks like it is set up ok to me in our DNS servers, and I am not sure where else to look or what to try.

Does anyone have any suggestions or things I can try?

Thanks - Kristi Lines

What happens when you run a tracert and ping to the external servers and internal servers. Do you have the internal servers pointing to the external dns servers as well as themselves. The clients on your network should point to your internal dns servers, and the dns servers should point to themselves and the externals.

Thanks for your reply. We were able to solve this late yesterday afternoon. Turns out that when we changed our Global outside IP address in our Cisco Pix firewall, this allowed us internet access. Our ISP could not explain why changing the outside address made a difference.
