I have a Polycom ViewStation 512 that I am running 3 ISDN-BRi's on and it works fine to most external locations, however when I try to make a call to a Polycom VSX7000 that we have installed as a built-in to multiple rooms, that also uses Telco ISDN-BRI, the call stops ringing on the ViewStation, but continues to ring on the built-in codec unit the VSX7000.

Not an easy read... But you may want to make sure that your polycoms are set up for auto answer. Have your tried the call both ways, A to B and B to A. Does that work? Also under advanced dialing you can set up to dial 2 channels at once or one at a time. What ever you are currently doing, try the other.

Did you know that you can purchase a BRI board for your definity and use your PRI to make video calls. You can get rid of your dedicated BRI's and save some $$$$.

Thanks. Both Polycoms are set to auto-answer but I cannot call either way. My guess is there is some mismatch in the settings of the VSX7000. I have tried to change all of the options in the ViewStation. I have tried dialing one channel at-a-time, it makes no difference.

We knew about adding a BRI board in the S8710 but do not have enough spare slots.

Has the new VSX ever made a sucessful video call? Polycom has some test numbers that you can call. Have you tried to complete a call to them?

The VSX 7000 works fine, in fact it has never failed. For some reason though I can't call from the VSX7000 to this ViewStation 512 and vice-versa. The ViewStation 512 works fine to all other numbers.

OK. Are these 2 locations in the same area code?

Who is you LD provider in both locations? I know for a fact that AT&T maintains a global video conference data base. If your SPIDS are not loaded into this data base, sometimes you will have routing problems. This happened to me once, I wasn't able to call from A to B or B to A, but other sights worked fine. I placed an order with AT&T to get my SPIDS loaded into their data base and that solved the problem.

Yes, they are the same area code, so calls would not route through AT&T, they would route through my local Telco, SBC.

I'll check with SBC and AT&T. Thanks.

yep, same happened to me. it took a few hours working with an AT&T tester to prove when the issue was.
