It starts up the Boot Selection Popup Menu, and I've looked all over the place and I can't find a solution to get to the other one.

I need to start up in safemode and this is the only way I see how, other than deliberatly crashing my computer which I would rather not do, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kerry

Make sure that you don't have one of the new keyboards where the F-lock function defaults to off.

Awesome! That works for this computer, but I actually have the same problem on two (one is a friend's), except on the other one I can't log in.

I would do the f8 method, but as I pointed out, it brings up the wrong window.

Any suggestions on how to change it to the advanced startup menu?

I just re-read your original post. What's the 'Boot Selection Popup Menu'? Is this some OEM menu that gives you the choice to start Windows or re-image everything back to the way it came from the factory? If so, at this menu continue pressing F8 after choosing to start Windows.

smah, you're right, I found out later, and thank you for replying. I haven't tested it on my machine but it is a menu that apparantly came with the motherboard which is why I wasn't finding it with Microsoft, and as soon as the menu is over and I hit f8 it popped up the proper menu.

Thank you.
