Hello

Can I extract individual emails from the exchange mailbox store with some exchange 2003 add-on/plugin or thirdparty tool?
For example, when I use ntbackup to backup data, I backup First Storage Group, Logs and Public Folder Store. Now, I might need to restore a specific email which a user might have deleted. What I need to do is to restore the whole first storage group and etc, and then use that storage as a latest for the exchange server. Of course all the emails in meantime from the last backup will be lost if I make restore like this.
Is there a possiblity to extract specific email from these .edb and .stm files?

Or eventually from user's machine - One creates .pst archiver/backup of his email boxes. How can I restore SINGLE email without restoring the whole archive?

Is it possible something that will help me with this?

I know Veritas has agents for this purpose...but still Veritas is not a part of our backup solution, not yet. If there is nothing that may help, I may consider it as an alternative backup solution, at least for emails.

Thanks!

Ola.

You wouldn't restore over the top of your existing database, you'd use a recovery storage group then exmerge out the particular mailbox to a PST then mount in Outlook to get the e-mail.
A bit long winded but works.

Also OnTrack PowerControls can access the .EDB's directly but is very expensive.

What does exmerge out means? Is it union (mathematically speaking) of the current PST the user has and the one that will be restored to the recovery storage group from the backup?
