Hello all smart ones,
I have been tasked with adding more HD space to a SUN BLADE 2000 workstation.

Can I buy just any external HD for this, with any size?? And if so what might be some of the gotcha's I need to keep an eye out for.

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Personally I would only buy storage that the supplier states works under Solaris. Such is the capacity nowadays of modern disk drives your decision is more likely to be driven by budget or physical space next to your workstation.
You have 3 types of storage available to you on the Sun Blade 2000, SCSI, Fibre Channel or USB.
For an inexpensive 1 Disk solution we recently installed without hitch a USB2.0 PCI card and 200GB HDD from Addonics.
For higher capacities look toward a SCSI or Fibre Cahnnel based solution.

Flash17,
Thanks for the info this is useful. I am being pushed to get the inexpensive USB hdd, and was worried they might not work. So this puts my mind at ease. Again thanks this is what I was hoping for.
