External FDD Information Requested

I was given an older pacrim/pacific rim parallel port external FDD. It did not come with a power supply. I've never needed to use it before so I never worried about it but now, I have a customers laptop that needs an external FDD to load the modem driver (Sony Vaio pcg-748). Does anyone know what power requirements the FDD has. I don't want to fry the FDD and I can't find anything inside, or outside, the FDD case telling me what volts/amps.

I don't recall that there was an external power source with the few Dell and Sony I've seen using the external floppy drive. I'd try a USB External Floppy Drive from WalMart for less than $40.
