Ola.
A friend with extremely limited funds just cried on my shoulder that their 5 year old motherboard blew, leaving them without a computer. Rather than send them to Fry's for a $400 kit, I dragged her across the street to Central Computing, where they offered us an ASUS P5kpl-AM plus Intel P. e5700 and 4gb ram for $200. The price is right, I can do the screwdriver and set up, but I notice the board has been around for a bit. (first review 2007). That being said, is there any pressing reason NOT to get this combo for them?
The desktop is not and will never be a media center, he is a carpenter and uses it for his bookkeeping and contracts, while she uses it for event planning. Probably the basic software and W7. In other words, their demands are modest, and this board has as much audio and video on board as they need. Probably more.
(I asked if they used it for media purposes and they said they had a printer and fax attached, so ..no.)
Other suggestions gladly accepted.
Thanks you august lot for your wisdom.
