external backup - optical disk

Guys - I'm a new starter so go easy on me!
I have an MD110 which had a Mitsubishi optical drive for external backup (I believe it was attached to the main HDU) but this has gone KAPUT
WHat can I replace this with - I heard that there was a Fujitsu replacement but I'm not sure - any help would be appreciated.

was replaced with a fujitsu unit,
dont know model name, but yes it was !

Could I just attach any MO device with scsi2 interface?
