We used to have 24 hour personnel monitoring all services and systems. That has now changed and I am wondering if there is something in the Definity G3SI ver 10 that will be able to outcall to a pager--in the event of a loss of power.

The idea posed was if the power drops--we already have a generator that automatically will start via an electrical sensor that opens and closes the right contacts. Can an amount of low voltage be sent to the PBX and outcall to a pager/pagers?

Any ideas--

You pbx should already have a UPS. Your vociemail is what does the outcalling. What VM do you have? Put both of them on a UPS and set up outcalling. Now the tricky part...how do you get it to call you if there is a power outage. Maybe a analog phone with a speed dial set to a emergency number i.e. 611 or 311...but how to connect this to your back up gens, have is dial when they kick in and leave a message on your voicemail...although I picture something like this.

Once the back up gens kick in it should automatically dial the number, pause, enter the digits of the ext. Hmmmm

Thanks---funny picture

I have ups but no notification software. What if I were to use a rj31x with an analog line off the PBX and a POTs line---or is there a device that might be made just for power interuptions?

I thought about it a lil more and thought of a Door Phone...we have a door phone that has a push button that calls a number when pressed. In theory you could disconnect the button, connect the back up gen to the button contacts...then when the back up gen comes up..it intiates the phone call. I ahve seen elevator phones like this aswell.

the pic is E.T.'s contraption he built to phone home...

that just might work-I have a door phone and an elevator phone-I will look into this to see--thanks for the suggestion
