I got a maxtor extern drive and have a little problem while i copy large directories on it!? ex: a large dir with 60gb mp3 a several mp3 were not copied!!?? well i did an overwrite and then it solved the lost but something wierd of it still remain it schould not be possible to happend,,,,the drive was formatted in ntfs and my pc as well ,, anyone who know the problem??

What's the size of the external drive? How is it partitioned?

Does Windows recognize the full size of the external drive?
What OS?

oh yes id does!!lets say that everyting seems normal,,,but several times then i tried to copy this large directory it someway lost data!!

I have had issues like this with NForce chipsets and USB drives. I haven't found a solution for this myself. Also, the files that did copy failed CRC testing.

Interestingly, I also found out that I am not the only one that has this trouble. The same HD works on my VIA, ALi, and Intel chipsets on my other PCs without flaws.

I don't even think there is a solution for this. If anyone knows of one, I'm all ears; it's a pain hooking up the drive caddy to different PCs to be able to use it. :)
