ill start by saying that i have NEVER touched an ip office of any flavor, so please be kind. :)

have a location needing to update the names on several extensions. they tell me they have gone to each phone(9508 model)and changed the name that displays on the phone, but this doesnt translate when they call to another phone in the system. how do i go about changing the name in the system? can it be done from a phone, or does it have to be done from software of some sorts?

thanks!

It must be configured with the Avaya IP Office Manager software(windows) or through webmanagement (depending on the version used)
For either solution you need login credentials to amend changes.

The web management can be found by browsing to the IP Address of the IP Office, the Mnager software must be installed on a PC attached to the same network as the IP Office and is capable to discover the IP Office if it is in the same subnet as the IP Office.

If you change the name there will be a new voicemail box created and if your message light was on you have to reboot the system to get it back out so make sure there are no messages when you rename a user.
Users have name and full name entries and the name is for the voicemail while the full name displays and is used for dial by name options should the system offer that.
