I am having a problem exporting to text using Crystal Reports 8.0. Not all the data would export to the text file. It was truncating after 83 characters. I found a thread related to this problem (thread 149-19869) that suggested exporting to 'Record Style (Columns of Values)' instead of Text. This worked for the truncating problem, but now I have a space at the beginning of each record which is not acceptable for the application. I have checked the layout in design view and can not see any space in the field.

I have tried all the suggestions in the Seagate knowledgebase that I could find (changing screen resolution to 800x600, updating the windows registry, checking that the font size was set to small instead of large, using Courier font). I've run out of ideas, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!!

I just did a text export of 100 characters in one field, but I had to make the object wider than I expected. I had to go to landscape to get it to fit. Ken Hamady

Thanks for the quick response. I have the page setup as landscape. My field is 122 characters long, so it is still not exporting the whole field. I think I need to export to Record Style but I keep getting a space at the beginning of each record. Anyone know how to get rid of that space???

Sorry, I found no way to get rid of the space.

Try Landscape with Legal size and make the field as wide as the page. Get rid of any extra margins. Ken Hamady

I changed the paper setting to Landscape & Legal size and had no problem exporting to text. The Legal gave me more space than just Landscape. Thanks so much!!!
