We finally got a compiled report to export to Excel. However, after we tell it we want to export, it takes several minutes before it asks what file name we want to export to. This is version 8. We don't have the problem on machines that have the full Crystal installed, only those that have only the distributed part installed. Any suggestions?

I don't know if this will be of much help, but CRW requires the U2FXLS.DLL file to export to Excel. It might be a long shot, but perhaps the version in the workstations without the full install have an older version of this file?

We copied all the files over from a machine with a full install, so they all have the same dates. Thanks anyway.

Is it just the export to Excel that is slow? Or the export to any format? Have you tried downloading a Crystal Reports Viewer, executing the report, saving it with data, opening it in the viewer and then exporting? I know that is a lot of steps but it will tell you if there is a problem with the export due to the fact that the report is complied. (I have a viewer that I can email to you)

Export to any file type is slow. It is actually after I tell it I want to export and select the type. It takes a long time to ask for the file name.

How long does the report take to run normally? I've noted that when you export a report using the compiled report format, it will rerun the report before the export is complete. My suggestion is trying selecting export prior to running the data in the report and see if the time taken for the report to run is the same.
