I have a crystal report which is grouped by document number which has some running totals also. I need to export the filein a fixed format to either txt or asci. Because the contents of the fields can be of variable length, the columns end up out of alignment. Any ideas how I can fix the position so that the columns do not move

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Align the columns to guidelines on both the left and right hand side of each field, as opposed to just on one side, which tends to be the default.

Thanks Naith for the prompt response, no luck with that though, any other ideas

I guess we must both be on GMT. Either that, or you're impressing the boss with some mad overtime.

Try exporting to .tsv (Tab Separated Values) instead of the .txt, with the same formatting we just talked about.

Thanks Naith

I've just tried it on a colleagues machine and it's because I have crystal 8.0 not 8.5!!! strange I know but true

Cheers
