I've made a report that creates a list of network paths. I need to export this to plain text. When I try to export it the paths are truncated at 65 characters. If I export it to .csv or .ttxt it exports the entire path but adds ""

I'm using CR 8.5. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?

Thank you

Use a landscape page orientation or a printer driver (you don't need the actual printer) with a wider page. Text exports in Crystal are limited to the number of character that can ne accomodated by the page width (using a characters per inch constant that can adjusted in the registry).

Thank you. I did that just now and tried selecting different printers and even changed to a wider paper size. It's still cutting off. I'm a bit confused, is this a crystal issue or an issue with a computer setting?

Thank you

I'm having a similar problem. I've switched my printer to one that can accomodate 34 inch wide paper, but if I extend the text object past 22 inches, the object won't export at all as text--it is completely left off the export.

What's going on?

When we had problems with text exports getting cut off in Crystal 7.0 and 8.5 at my old company we had to go back to the Crystal 6 -- u2ftext.dll vers 6.0.0.9 = 08/28/1997, and it did not cut off our text exports that had trailing spaces for example, which was happening in 7.0 and 8.5.

When we complained to Crystal about our 7.0/8.5 text export problem, they finally said to go back and substitute the Crystal 6 vers in place of the 7/8.5 u2ftext.dll.

I still used this Crystal 6 u2ftext.dll as a replacement for the 8.5 u2ftext.dll at a company in 2005 that was using Crystal 8.5, and it worked OK.

If you can't download a copy of the Crystal 6 u2ftext.dll vers 6.0.0.9 from Crystal, someone needs to let me know how I can use tek-tips to get you folks a copy of my Crystal 6 u2ftext.dll vers 6.0.0.9.

I had a problem exporting text from Crystal 10, random cut-offs. Setting the 'characters per inch' to 15 did the trick, don't ask me why.

I found the registry setting to change the characters per inch, and that did the trick. It was set to 9, and I changed it to 12, and now it works. I wish I could set the characters per inch during the export process rather than in the registry.

Crystal 10 does let you set it in the export. I'd assume you are using an older version.

Hmm. I am running Crystal 10 with the most recent service pack installed. I'll check to make sure I've got the correct export dll.

I solved it: I have version 10.0.5.600 of u2ftext.dll. My registry has two keys under HKCU/Software/Crystal Decisions/10.0/Crystal Reports/Export/Text. One of them is CharPerInch, and the other is PromptAgain. PromptAgain was set to 0, so CR10 wasn't asking me my preference on CharPerInch. I have changed PromptAgain to 1, and am now able to export to text without issue.

Thanks everyone for your help.
