I want to export an Access 2000 report as an Excel 97 spreadsheet. Every now and then it works, but usually all I get is a spreadsheet with the heading from the report and nothing else. On the few times it does work, I get a message to the effect that some numerical values could not be converted.

Is there anythjing special one should do/not do when exporting a report?

Thanks. -- Ham

First we need to know the EXACT message.
So write it down.
Second. Not sure why you are exporting a report to Excel.

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

Excel will do it's best to figure out what type of data is being imported, but if it thinks there are numbers supposed to be coming in, and it gets text, you will get an error.

I agree with Doug, why would you want to export a report to Excel, it will not format it like the report is formatted. It would be better to export the Source query to excel than the report, as it will just stick the data into columns without trying to figure out the heades and footers and such.
Jim Lunde
compugeeks@hotmail.com
<a href= Application Development

1. The next time I get the error message, I will write it down.

2. The report consists of several columns of numbers, and I wanted to do some analysis on them and figured excel would be the easiest way.

Thanks for replies. - Ham Rutledge

If its an ongoing requirement it might be worth summoning Excel using OLEDB thru VB code & command it to create a spreadsheet from your data (you can specify any formatting etc this way too). This can be a pain in the arse though, so if its just a one off try one of the other suggestions.
