Export/Import Clipper Data and Memo Files

What's the best way to take a Clipper file and export it for some further processing using Access (or some other tool) to update a key field (called "name") and then reimport it into Clipper. I've read that there are problems with memo fields when exported and imported, but I'm not sure just what the limitations are.

From a brief conversation with my client, I'm interested in changing the key field and the technique the client seems to prefer is this export/processing/import approach.

Help's appreciated.

Thanks!

That's like taking the whole kitchen out of your house to get the sink washed, outside at the neighbours place s-)

There are around 10.000 tools available to change a 'simple' .dbf file, why go the clumsy export/import road if it will only bring you more trouble then good?
Even Excel can open a .dbf file, but after some data-changes, Clipper won't know what to do with the file, so that's not too smart :-( I'm afraid you'll have the same problems using Access
With Clipper there's a tool called DBU that's just for this, and by the sound of it, it's a one time only job, so you can bear the minimal interface available ;-)

Goodluck!
