We have several offsite users, who use Outlook 2003 configured as a POP3 client, connecting to our Exchange 2003 server. These users need some type of Address Book that has all the people from our Global Address List.

Does anyone know of a way to export the GAL to a PAB? Or are there any other ways to accomplish the goal of getting the POP3 users an Address Book with everyone in the GAL?

Thanks very much

I don't know of a way with POP, but let me ask a question.

Have you considered having the users use Outlook over HTTP? How about using OWA which has GAL access?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Yep - RPC over HTTP or OWA would be the best bet.

You won't find a built in way of doing in POP3 since that's not part of the RFC.

Frequently connecting it to your Exchange server using cached mode would get you a local copy, but that's probably not what you're after.

Thanks for the replies...

The remote users are all set up for OWA, but management and most users prefer regular Outlook, so OWA doesn't get used much.

I hadn't considered RPC over HTTP. I'll have to look into this and give it a shot. Are there any type of performance or security issues with doing this?

Also, anyone know of a good 3rd party tool for exporting the GAL to a PAB?

Thanks again

Outlook over HTTP uses a certificate for encryption, so it is very secure. I find it the best way to work remotely.

I hope you find this post helpful.
