Hello..

I have made a small database for a workmate (basically an overgrown address book) and now I want to give the database to her as a single entity hopefully which she can run on her computer and use.

Can I export the database to be a single executable or something? I have never used VB so cant tackle the problem from that angle.

Is there anyone who I could email the database to and have this process done for me??

Hi,

Short answer: nope.

In the Access/Office developers toolkit (or whatever it is) is a utility for distributing & running databases on machines without access, Access Runtime.

Without that, the destination machine must be running Access.

Cheers

Steve

thanks...there is another thread about the developers toolkit (or whatever it is), so I'll keep an eye on that.. maybe it will help..

But if anyone out there can help...please let me know...

When you say "workmate", does that suggest you're on a network?

If so, is there any way that you could use HTML forms that she could access through a web browser, that connects to your database stored in a shared location? If it can be done, it's theoretically very easy to do.

Although I've built a lot a databases, I've never attempted this, so can't be sure which hole I'm talking out of! I'm sure you'll let me know... ;)

unfort., no- not on a network... otherwise I suppose it would have been feasible...

but thanks for opening your hole anyways...

Hi.

Is your database only 1 form/table? If so, why not use Tools/Office Links/Publish it with Word or Analyze it with Excel.

It's not ideal, but your friend could at least use the data.

its 4 table/forms....so isnt quite small enough to export like that...

If you can find the Access 2000 Developer Tools PLEASE let me know. I searched and they've got it listed $400 however it's been discontinued.

I searched e-bay.

As well as Curcuit City, Best Buy, and CompUSA in person and NONE of theses places carry the developer tools.

I really want this product but cant find it.

Hi.

You could create a report with a similar layout to your forms. This would allow you to use data from all your tables as required. Then you can use the Office Links to put it into Word or Excel.

Regards,

Howard.

Unfort the idea of the database was so she (the user) can enter data daily, and every week or month (whatever) generate reports from the data entered.

At this stage the database is actually empty (except for a few 'test' values...)
