Hi,

PC running XP Pro, SP3 with all the latest patches. A/V is up to date, and also has ADawar installed. Every time I try to open a CMD prompt on the box, or run a script, Explorer restarts. I've also tried regedt32 and regedit and the same thing happens. HiJack this also fails to run, with the same issue.

I assume I have some sort of Trojan / Virus on the box, but Antivirus and Adaware both come up clean on a full scan.

Anyone had anything similar?

Wow! Thanks for all these responses.

Housecall failed to start a scan, with explorer crashing each time. Hijack this also did the same thing.

It was the same issue as in Magzy's post. There was a weird entry in drivers32 for the aux driver which pointed at a file in my "My documents" folder. Setting the entry back to wdmaud.drv and rebooting solved the problem.

Thanks again for all the assistance!
