Explorer doesn't open.

I have a Windows 2000 pro with sp2 installed IE 6 with updates as well. If I try to open IE 6, My Computer, Control Panel or Windows Explorer the desktop flashes but nothing happens. I have Norton Corp running with the latest updates and no viruses detected. I was told by the user she was on the internet and closed it along with several popup windows turned the machine off for the weekend and after booting on Monday morning this happened. Any ideas would be helpful.

I can't get to the control panel to reinstall. Or on the internet. And I don't have an autostart IE 6 cd. I will have to order on from Microsoft.

I'd rescan for a virus..Yaha, for example, disables all .exe's. A work around might be to change an .exe to .com to see if the program will open.

I installes service pack 3 and it fixed all of the problems.
